Beaks and feet - Inquiry Learning

Hi there  - Thank you to those of you who have taken the classroom camera home so far and captured some images of life at home.  I can honestly say it has been fantastic for our oral language programme and the children's ability to ask questions.  We have also been getting to know each other well.   Last week during our walk we saw a lot of birds - duck, geese, pukeko, stilts, and gulls.  During our time watching them - we really focussed on their different shaped feet and beaks.  Most of the interest in the initial discussions we had after the walk seemed to focus on ducks - and we have done some learning and writing about ducks this week.  Here are some of the questions they asked - as a starting point for our Inquiry.  We can't wait to get our 'beaks' into answering these questions.  Where possible this will be integrated across the curriculum.  Stay posted for some writing examples on this.

I should mention, before we asked these questions - the children did talk in groups.  Apologies for not capturing every face in the video, or answering every hand that was up (on the video) - we did continue and ensure every question was recorded.  I really just wanted to provide you with a sample of the type of questions asked.
